Things are definitely cooling down around here! With fall on the way, it’s time to put away the Daisy Dukes and tank tops and exchange them for warmer clothing! Here are some of the top new trends that you need to add to your wardrobe!
Classic Clothing -- Designers are starting to use basic clothing and twist it up with accessories and shoes. They are also keeping with classic cuts. You can channel this trend by taking a simple top and jeans and using jackets, shoes, and jewelry to give it some umph! Stores: American Eagle, White House Black Market, Abercrombie,The Limited
Statement Pieces -- From jewelry to jackets, find something bold! Designers are starting to use fur, leather, and lace on their fall collections. Find shoes with embellishments and jackets with a modern twist. When you wear this in your wardrobe, keep it to only one statement piece so that it can stand out. Stores: Frock Candy, Forever 21, Bella Bella
Vintage -- Yes, vintage is still in! Even though we aren’t feeling the tight reins of the recession, we have learned our lesson and it’s still cool to reuse! Vintage clothing is one of a kind, so you can rest assured that no one else will be wearing what you have on. Baton Rouge is one of the premier locations in the nation with vintage boutiques. And if you don’t have a clue of how to wear it, any of the employees are sure to know!
Stores: Time Warp, Noelie Harmon, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters
-- Neutral Colors -- Many of you more than likely think that neutrals are bland and uninteresting, but they will surely stand out in the sea of black, grey, and brown jackets. Neutrals are being seen mostly in outerwear such as jackets. You can wear this trend by investing in a neutral jacket and making the outfit pop with a brightly colored shirt underneath.
Stores: J. Crew, Guess, Gap, New York & Co
Priscilla Garcia

Priscilla Garcia, a Junior, loves to show off her trendy attire on Free Dress Day. Her favorite current trend is the old vintage look, but she would love to do away with animal print. Priscilla plans to wear her boots often during the fall season, preferrably with skinny jeans! She looks to Audrina Patridge as her fashion icon. Her favorite places to shop include Time Warp Boutique, Forever 21, and Bella Bella. Priscilla’s fashion advice to you is:
“Make your own style.”
Storm Lantrip Jr.
Storm Landtrip Jr., is a Junior here at ZHS who is involved in WZHS and the Renaissance Club. His preppy style is often seen and he believes that preppy and trendy are two of the best trends. If he was able to banish a trend, it would have to be the combination of skinny jeans, plaid shirts, and Converse or skateboard shoes. (I agree!!) He cites jeans, loafers, and a North Face jacket, sweater or peacoat as his favorite thing to wear for fall. When asked who his favorite fashion icon is, he excitedly said, “Myself!” He enjoys shopping at Dillards, Lucky Brand Jeans, Abercrombie, Steve Madden, and True Religion. Storm’s fashion advice to you is: “Don’t be afraid to wear stuff a little out of the box! You never know; you may start a trend!”
