Hunger Games Craze

                    Hunger Games, the movie,recently debuted. Ever since it was announced that this very popular book was going to the Big Screen, the books have gathered even more interest. It seems as if the books have suddenly turned into another episode of the Harry Potter or Twilight craze! There is even a competition between "Team Gale" and "Team Peeta," just as Twilight came with a competition between "Team Edward," and "Team Jacob." So far, anyone who has seen the movie has proclaimed it to be good and fairly true to the book which can be a rare occurance with boks turned movies. Lenten Season

             Some students may have noticed a few people walking around campus last Wednesday with black crosses on their foreheads. This was a symbol of Ash Wednesday, celebrated in the Catholic church as the start of the Lenten season. During Lent, Catholics are obligated to give something up until Easter, or do something extra. Many poeple give up things like eating candy, drinking soda, and even watching television. As for doing something extra, one could do something like saying an extra prrayer every day or helping around the house more. Either way, this is a season of remembrance and sacrifice. Whether or not one is Catholic, this is an awesome way to prepare for Easter!

Searching for Scholarships?

Graduation is quickly becoming clear on the horizons of the seniors at ZHS. Hopefully, all of the college-bound, future graduates have already decided on a college to attend next fall, or at least they have applied to a few universities they find interesting. The focus of the second semester for these seniors should be on attaining all the aid they can to help pay for their upcoming educational endeavors, meaning the students need to begin applying for financial aid through the fafsa to get TOPs and entering any scholarships they are qualified for. All seniors must remember that they NEED to fill out the fafsa in order to receive the TOPs scholarship they have long been awaiting. This scholarship alone will easily cover most of the tuition for public universities in Louisiana, and often will even pay for text books. Also, ...
